The Circle Of Influence

Many of us tend to worry or are concerned about things that we have no influence over. Such as:

  • What laws are passed in the country
  • How the president decides to act
  • Whether people actually truly understand us

It’s a waste to put our energy there — because we can change nothing about it. (Since we have zero influence there).

What we can do is to put our energy and emphasis on things that we can influence. Here, we can make changes and get results.

As we grow, our sphere of things that we can influence grows too.

Then maybe one day, you’ll be in the position to affect the things you really wanna affect. But before that, focus on what you can influence.

This concept comes from Stephen Covey’s 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.

Whatever I said above is simply my interpretation of what he’s said.
